Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • use data, logic, concrete examples, or explanation of rules or procedures to influence others
  • provide constructive feedback to others, actively ask for feedback and receive it openly and objectively
  • encourage others to communicate openly by reassuring them that their views are valued
  • simplify, condense and communicate ideas and concepts to help others understand tasks, issues, problems and opportunities

  • Defining and distinguishing between the basic response styles of non-assertive, assertive and aggression
  • Different influencing patterns
  • Saying "no" appropriately
  • Effects of gender and experience on communication practice
  • Recognising hot buttons and learning how to deal with them productively
  • Exploring the conflict-resolution model
  • Practising conflict-resolution techniques
  • Identifying and implementing specific actions toward continuing assertiveness
